ERKAN OĞUR QUARTET

Erkan Oğur, İlkin Deniz and Turgut Alp Bekoğlu founded Telvin in 1995 to embark on a musical quest together. This quest was the musical correspondence of ‘Telvin’. Performing in local-international festivals and performance halls for 10 years, Telvin released their first album in 2006.

The word ‘telvin’ means colors. The trio puts a musical twist to the notion by linking it with Islamic Sufism’s interpretation of the concept as morphing and a journey towards settlement. Telvin is both non-assertive and limitless.

Once freed from passion, fear, love, ambition and desire; what remains is pure music. Themes are shaped by the given share of musical energy in the universe to Anatolia, through a wide array of improvisations. Unique in its own right, the music of Telvin expresses transformation between various states both in our lives and in music.

Continuing their journey with the ‘telvin’philosophy; the band now renamed as Erkan Oğur Quartet and will be performing at Cappadox with Erkan Oğur on guitars, Matt Hall in double bass, Can Çankaya on piano and Turgut Alp Bekoğlu on drums.
