ALA.NI

ALA.NI is a rising star whose incredible voice elicits praise from just about anyone. Her Grenadian reggae-calypso bass guitarist father and couture seamstress mother discovered her talent at the age of three. After singing back up for musicians like Andrea Bocelli, Mary J. Blige, and Blur, ALA.NI rose to fame with her incredible performance on Later… with Jools Holland. She instantly seduced jazz lovers with her ballads, which take the listener back to the ’40s and ’50s. Two years ago, she recorded her debut album—the first part of the EP series Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, in which the artist explores the seasons of a past relationship—in Damon Albarn’s Studio 13. Following the release of her album, ALA.NI ended another chapter in her life, relocating from London to Paris. The video of her performing “Cry Me a River” with Conor O’Brien from The Villagers at La Chapelle expiatoire in Paris is a must-see.
